About 115 km to the north of
Gangtok in the picturesque Lachung valley is Snowlion Mountain Resort, the ultimate in comfort
and hospitality. The multistoried hotel has a
beautiful natural setting with towing hills and
snowy peaks surrounding it on all sides. Situated
at an altitude of 3,500m, you will b overwhelmed
by the peace and quiet found here. The resort has
27 rooms with attached bath. Food is served in the
dining room on the first floor.
Your adventure begins the moment you set out on
the seven -hour journey to Lachung. The winding
road passes through Kabi Longstok where the blood
brotherhood treaty between Lepcha and Tibetan
chiefs was signed in the 13th
century, the magnificent Naga and Bhim Nala
waterfalls, and the Hold Roack at Chungthang
blessed by Guru Rimpoche.
Upon arrival at the hotel, high tea is served,
followed by dinner at nine. If, after dinner you
do not wish to retire early, you can sit around
the fire place and soak in the homely and peaceful
ambiance of the place.
The reason for halting at Lachung for
the night
is that it is on the way to Yumthang - a veritable
paradise with its alpine scenery, grazing yaks and
hot springs.
While returning from Yumthang in the afternoon,
the tour takes you to Lachung Monastery, the
cottage industry and the helipad. |
It was in the year 1994 when there was overflow of tourist
in Lachung we decided to come up with a thorough
professional Resort designed in traditional Sikkimese
style, which could cater to all quality clients. Here all
20 room's windows open to a breath-taking panoramic view
of the Valley. All rooms are fitted with Geysers and
Generator to light up your darkest nights. Snowlion has a
parking space for almost 30 vehicles, where along the
edges during flower season different types of alpine
flowers bloom. No! We don't have nor do we provide television.
This is
done on purpose as you've paid to be in a place where
"TIME STOOD STILL" As tourists say "It's the ultimate in
North Sikkim". 
This simple village accommodation was the 1st Lodge opened
in Lachen. It was this particular lodge where almost all
Great climbers have stayed during their expedition to Mt
Khangchendzonga 8598 mt 3rd highest mountain in
the world. In fact Marcopolo was the 1st travel
agent to take tourist when this area opened for package
tour.
